It is so hard to get into juicing. The upfront cost, the best green juice recipes, having to store all the extra carrots in the sock drawer.
It can be so much work in fact that, once you actually get to your first juice, you’ll be majorly disappointed.
Two years ago, Brani and I tried to super get into green juices. I think we lasted about a day.
It’s not easy to love green juices right as you start making them, and it’s even harder when you find recipes that suggest grapefruit as an ingredient (PSA: just don’t).
But if you’ve been following me on my IG stories (really, you should click here to become IG friends with me right now!) you’ll know that I’ve been living the high-juice life lately.
We started really slowly with easy (and fruity sweet) juices before progressing to things like BEET and KALE and such. No, no, that’s not what we’re here for today.
This is easy. Simple. Fresh. It’s the best green juice if you’re a beginner who really wants to learn to love green drinks.
There is a lot of sweetness from the fruit (apple and oranges). Ideally you’ll move to a place where your juices are mostly vegetable with very little to no fruit, but that’s a story for another day.
I found that all the way in the beginning I really needed plenty of fruit juice added to get used to the pretty healthy taste of juiced greens.
The real-deal dark green juice comes from spinach, though. It’s the mildest-tasting green I’ve found for both smoothies and juices (apart from lettuce) and you can cram in a lot without it being gross or overpowering.
And finally, I like adding a lemon for a little bit of an extra kick of freshness.
Here’s me being super awkward on my aforementioned IG story, talking about how I juice:
We did drink this juice a lot before moving on to more green and less sweet juices. Once you start moving on, you can stick to the same recipe – just switch up little things:
Use less fruit and more celery
Switch up your green to an earthier one – like kale for example
Switch out some of the celery for something like beets
Whatever you do – definitely do not let the initial struggles keep you from juicing. I feel so good drinking green juices almost daily!
Oh, and be sure to make some space in your sock drawer. Srsly though.
