Ingredient notes
Mayo: I know we’re going for maximum authenticity when it comes to copycat recipes, but actually… I mostly make this one with Greek Yogurt instead of mayo.I do add an extra teaspoon of mustard with the Greek yogurt for more flavor. Since we enjoy a lot of dipping sauce, I do like the lighter version with yogurt for our everyday use.Honey: The honey has a big effect on the color and flavor of the sauce. The darker your honey, the darker your sauce. I recommend a lighter, mild honey here.BBQ sauce: There are so many BBQ sauces out there, it can be hard to choose! I prefer a classic BBQ sauce with a smokey, tangy flavor. Sweet Baby Ray’s is always a good choice, if you ask me!
Recipe tips
What exact ingredients you’re using will dictate how the end result looks and tastes. Make sure you’re using ingredients you like the taste of.
I recommend to taste-test the sauce before chilling. Adjust the ingredient amounts to your liking – want it more tangy? Add more vinegar. More sweetness? Add more honey. You can also add a little salt if you feel the sauce is too bland.
Store the sauce in the fridge for up to 5 days, if you have any leftovers.
