Monster Eye Cookies Pin 2

You know how sometimes we get so caught up in making our holidays PINTEREST-PERFECT that we get so frustrated with the first crazy-hard project –
and end up doing nothing at all?

Yeah, not with these cookies. Easy, simple and so adorable!

When I made these cute monster cookies with my three year old, she almost fell off her chair because she was so excited. I used some cookie dough I had in the freezer from making a batch of my favorite brownie cookies.

All we did was sticking cute candy eyes on them once they came out of the oven – and apparently that’s absolutely exciting enough!

These Halloween Cookies

  • are cute and kid-friendly
  • can be made with homemade cookie dough OR your favorite store-bought one
  • are super easy to whip up, even with little ones involved!

My kid had a crazy amount of fun making these cute halloween cookies. I loved seeing her so giddy. Not a single tear was shed (apart from when I told her no, she couldn’t eat six in one sitting).

And it’s something I can’t wait to do again next year. And the year after. And then some – that’s how I like my holiday crafts!

PS I do the same at Easter with my No Bake Bird’s Nest Cookies, in case you want to save those to try in spring 🙂

How to make these super easy halloween cookies:

Make some cute monster cookies for Halloween this year! They are SO easy to make, your kids will love helping!

► 1 Make the cookie dough: Whip up a batch of your favorite chocolate cookie dough. I usually use my Chocolate Brownie Cookies, which are the ones you can see in the photos.

► 2 Bake the cookies: Bake the cookies according to your recipe. I’ve been using silicone baking mats for years now, and I absolutely love them!

Click here to order Silpat mats on Amazon – just make sure you’re picking the right size! (This is an affiliate link and I make a commission for purchases made after clicking through.)

► 3 Add eyes: Let the cookies cool for a few minutes after baking – they should still be warm, but not so hot that your kids will burn their fingers. Gently press the candy eyes into the warm cookies and allow to cool completely.

By the way: The secret to making these cookies cute and not super scary are the eyes. Use large eyes, not the super small ones. You can find cute ones on Amazon – for example here, here or here! And these are crazy expensive! But incredibly adorable.

Tips for These Cute Monster Eye Cookies:

  • Use a cookie scoop to shape the cookies – less mess and the kids find it super fun. You can find one on Amazon here for example.*
  • Decide if you’re going to use storebought cookie dough or a homemade one – storebought is faster and easier, homemade is often cheaper. Your call!
  • Bake the cookies on silicone baking mats for easy and budget-friendly clean up (no more parchment paper to buy and toss!) Seriously, if you don’t have any click here now and order some from Amazon*!
  • Be careful with the candy eyes – I have yet to find a kind that doesn’t have the black color bleed at the slightest touch of moisture. But that’s about the hardest part in making this Halloween treat!

I hope you’ll have all the fun making these for Halloween ???
